We’re busy rehearsing for our upcoming summer concert on Sat 9th July where we’ll be joined by the talented soloist Faith Stonehewer for a performance of Joe Duddell's 'Ruby' percussion concerto. Written for the percussionist Colin Currie, 'Ruby' is a showcase for the wide array of percussion instruments and the orchestra and will be fantastic to watch.
Faith is currently studying at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, under the guidance of Owen Gunnell, Patrick King, Henry Baldwin, Steve Barnard and Matthew French. She was previously the Principal Percussionist for the National Youth Wind Orchestra.
We'll also be performing Shostakovich’s Symphony no.5, one of the greatest symphonies of the 20th century, and The Spark Catchers by contemporary composer Hannah Kendall, an exciting piece full of dynamic energy which drives us through key phrases from Lemn Sissay's poem about the Matchwomen.
We’re also trying out a new venue: Trinity Academy in Lockleaze, a brand new concert hall with great acoustics.
Tickets are £15 adult, £12 concession, £6 NUS and £3 U18s, available in advance from brunelsinfonia.org.uk/purchase-ticket
