A Romantic night in with Rachmaninov

Wednesday, June 29th, 2011

A balmy June evening saw the Brunel Sinfonia perform to a good audience with their second performance of Rach 2. As far as symphonies go, this is as romantic as it gets, and it was an excellent performance from the orchestra. The Glinka provided a lively opening to the evening which was followed by a master class in fiddle playing from Roger Huckle, who mesmerised us with his performance of the Sibelius Violin Concerto. The general feeling amongst the players was one of happiness, as this was a much improved performance of the Rach then when we attempted it back in 2007.

So join us in November for a bit of Elgar, Bruch and Wagner!

The Planets!

Monday, April 4th, 2011

Thanks to everyone for turning out to see us perform The Planets on Saturday! We really enjoyed playing it and it was a cracking gig. First time we’ve ever sold out a concert, think it was standing room only at the back. Apologies it was so hot though!

We’re all going to take a break now until May, when we re-group to start building up to our Rachmaninov concert on Saturday 25th June, so make a note in your diaries people! We hope we see some of you there.

In the mean time, big shout out to Jon Lightfoot and his pals in The Bristol Concert Series Players, they’ve got a concert coming up. Thursday 14th April 2011 @ 8pm, Circomedia, St Paul’s Church, Portland Square, Bristol. Strauss – Metamorphosen, Glazunov – Saxophone Concerto (featuring Thom Petty) and Sibelius – Andante Festivo, Romance in C Major. More details here.

Site Down Time

Saturday, December 15th, 2007

Dear All,

As I'm sure you have noticed, brunelsinfonia.org.uk has been off line for the past two weeks. Well! As I'm sure you can also see, we are back! Apologies all for the down time.

It appears that out hosts (Fasthosts) experienced mega problems, something to do with their system "being compromised", but I have also heard that their server rooms were flooded in the October floods that hit Gloucester. Anyway, as a result, and in their infinite wisdom, they decided to change our system password, and hence we lost our database connection and hence our site.

Both Dave and myself (from Australia!) have made numerous attempts to get in touch with Fasthosts (for a while the phone number they had on their website didn't work) but finally we have managed to get our password back!

So apologies once again! And welcome back!

Greetings from Australia by the way! Great weather. Wish you were here!

And Merry Christmas
